Common Uses

Trevilor is an antidepressant of the serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) class. It is prescribed for the treatment of clinical depression and anxiety disorders. Due to the pronounced side effects and suspicions that Trevilor may significantly increase the risk of suicide it is not recommended as a first line treatment of depression. However, it is often effective for depression not responding to SSRIs.

How to Take

Trevilor should be taken with food at doses specifically directed by a physician. Individual doses vary greatly among individuals.

Warning and Precautions

Children, teenagers, and young adults who take Trevilor may be at increased risk for suicidal thoughts or actions. Watch all patients who take Trevilor closely. Contact the doctor at once if new, worsened, or sudden symptoms such as depressed mood; anxious, restless, or irritable behavior; panic attacks; or any unusual change in mood or behavior occur. Contact the doctor right away if any signs of suicidal thoughts or actions occur.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the medicine at the next regularly scheduled time. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include: dilated pupils, fainting, fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat, muscle pain or weakness, new or worsening mental or mood problems, seizures, severe or persistent dizziness, drowsiness, or trouble breathing, vomiting, yellowing of the eyes or skin. Contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Storage

Store Trevilor at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store in a tightly sealed container. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Trevilor out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Possible Side Effects

The common side effects are: dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; excitement; headache; impotence; nausea; nightmares; pupil dilation; sensitivity to sunlight; sweating; tiredness; upset stomach; vomiting; weakness; weight loss or gain, Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); blurred vision or other vision changes; changes in sex drive; chest pain; confusion; constipation; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat.
