Common Uses

Telfast is an antihistamine drug used in the treatment of hayfever and similar allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy throat, or itchy, watery eyes. It is also used to treat hives and skin itching. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to Take

For seasonal allergies the recommended dose for adults and children 12 years or older is 60 mg twice daily or 180 mg once daily. Children 6-11 years of age should be given 30 mg twice daily. For chronic urticaria, adults and children 12 years or older should use 60 mg twice daily, and children 6-11 years of age should use 30 mg twice daily. Take Telfast with water (not fruit juice). You can use this drug with or without food.

Warning and Precautions

Telfast may cause dizziness. It does not usually cause drowsiness when used under normal circumstances at the recommended doses. However, these effects may be worse if you take Allegra with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Telfast with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.

Pregnancy and Breast-feeding: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Telfast while you are pregnant. It is not known if Telfast is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Telfast, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Telfast, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Overdose

Reports of Telfast overdose are infrequent, and because of this, the effects are not well established.

Storage

Store Telfast between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture(not in the bathroom), and light. Store in original packaging until just before use. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Possible Side Effects

Possible common side effects are: nausea, vomiting, weakness, drowsiness, sleepiness, fatigue.
